Saddle Ridge Elementary Middle School
Rock Spring, GA

This facility was designed as the first phase of a campus that will add a new high school in the future. The design for Saddle Ridge Elementary/Middle School is based on an axis perpendicular to the entry with double loaded classrooms on two stories. The program includes a project based learning environment which requires areas common to the classrooms of sufficient size to facilitate joint classroom project development. Both the gym and multipurpose rooms are double height with high windows to provide natural light, and roof monitors were designed for the upper corridor for the same purpose.

This 680 student school was designed to adhere to sustainable principles and is seeking LEED Silver certification upon completion. The facility includes forty classrooms, administration, conference, clinic, media center/library, music, kitchen/cafeteria, multipurpose room, gymnasium, parent and teacher workrooms, and business, technology, and healthcare science classrooms.
